Q. Is it possible to refinish, or install a hardwood floor myself, and would it be difficult?
There are a number of different things that you should consider before doing this. How much experience you have in home-construction projects, your desire to research and gather helpful tips, and whether you have a strong back. All of these things will help when trying a do-it-yourself project. However, we do recommend getting some advice before making the decision to do it yourself.
Q. If I install a hardwood floor, can you do the sanding and finishing?
Yes. The sanding and finishing is the most difficult part of the project for homeowners to do. It requires heavy equipment and specialized knowledge. We are more than happy to give you a quote for sanding and finishing your floors.
Q. How much will it cost to refinish my floor?
The cost to refinish a floor will depend on a number of things including: the general condition of the flooring, the amount of square footage, the type of wood and which rooms you are considering doing. To be able to give an accurate quote we will need to look at the floors. We give free onsite written quotes.
Q. How long will it take to complete the refinishing?
Every job can be different. There are generally three coats of finish and each coat must dry overnight, so a minimum of three days for sanding and the application of all of the coats of finish. Even a small floor will take a minimum of three days to complete. The length of time will also depend on the size of the job and can range from a few days to a week or more.

Q. Do you fill cracks and nail holes?

Yes, we fill all cracks and nail holes with wood filler.

Q. Do I need to cover furniture and doorways leading to other rooms with plastic in order to protect against dust?
No. Our sanding machinery is connected directly to a vacuum system to pick up sanding dust at the source. We will keep your home clean while we work.

Q. If I want the floor to be a natural finish, what color will it be?

These finishes are considered clear, but it can still change the floor color depending on the class of finish used. We will help and guide you through the selection process.
Q. Can we change the color of a natural floor to another color, and how is this done? How much will this cost? Will it take longer to complete the work?
There are many color choices available. In order to change the color of your floor from a natural color to another color requires staining it. This is done to change the color to suit trim, furniture, other wood and one’s personal taste. If you decide to have your floors stained, it will take about 2 more days to complete the job, and staining will add to the cost of the job.
Q. Are there things that I can do, or precautions that I can take, to keep my floors looking new?
The most important things are to keep felt pads under furniture and other items that may scratch the floors and regularly clean your floors.
